HTS Storm Basketball Academy

HTS Storm Basketball Academy, based at Holy Trinity School in Crawley, is a tailor made elite basketball academy programme for boys and girls from Sussex, the South East and beyond – delivered in conjunction with Storm Basketball Club.

Holy Trinity School and Storm Basketball Club have a very close relationship, with the Basketball Academy Coaching Team of Daniel Hildreth, Karl Youngman, Barney Blake & Alexis Lewis all also coaching at Storm Basketball Club.

The provision on offer at HTS Storm Basketball Academy is unmatched across the county and the region – with individual skill development sessions, team practices, strength & conditioning with Train2Perform, sports psychology & video analysis sessions; all tailored around a full Sixth Form academic timetable to provide a comprehensive student-athlete experience.

With multiple high level coaches operating within the academy programme, we are able to go over and above to offer the contact time you need to develop your game; while the level of our dedicated and experienced coaches is also second to none.

Coach Daniel Hildreth is a former professional basketball player who has Head Coached in NBL Division One, and led our National League programme to multiple national titles, including most recently a Cup & Playoff double with the Sussex Storm U16 Boys in 2018/19.

Coach Karl Youngman has coached at two NBL Final Fours and won 10 National Schools titles over the past 10 years, and now focuses on growing Storm Basketball Club from the ground up – to having 300+ members and 1100+ weekly participants.

Meanwhile, Freddie Winton takes a lead on the younger age groups within the school as another one of our Full Time academy coaches. He spent the last 3 seasons as one of our community coaches and National League coaches, while also being involved in Basketball Englands Aspire programme. He head coaches HTS Storm Boys II in AOC and Dynamik Competitions and assists Coach Hildreth with Boys I and the Girls Academy. Freddie is also a former club and academy player himself too.

HTS Storm Basketball Academy is also partnered with Train2Perform, a professional strength & conditioning organisation led by Liam Mitchell and Paul Walshe. Liam currently works with British Sailing & British Rugby, preparing their athletes for World Championships and Olympics, while his basketball connections include a number of years leading on the physical profiling at Deng Camp UK, and a current role supporting local BBL franchise Surrey Scorchers.
